Constraints

Time
The first constraint I will consider is the time it will take during pre-production , the production itself and post-production. Timing is vital in any media production as it is what determines whether the planning , filming and editing is done thoroughly or not. This is because each stage takes time as well as effort for you to perfect it. For instance, in pre-production the planning is the most important aspect as it requires us to brainstorm ideas for the production considering everything that will be undertaken in the production and post-production process. We will also need to work around our cast members timetables, to ensure we're filming with them at an appropriate time that is flexible for them, as
exams are approaching.

Costs/Expenses
The cost is also a limitation to consider, as there are definitely props which we are going to invest our own money into. As our advert is about promoting a lipstick from the brand MUA we're going to need to buy this from the drug store (Superdrug), there will be 5 cast members in the advert and so we're going to need to buy 5 lipsticks. However, as we'll need to show the collection in the advert we may need more than 5, so we're looking at about 10-15 altogether. Each unit costs £1.00, which means it will be £15.00 pounds altogether, therefore we will each have to spend £7.50. The equipment is available for us to use from school, so won't require any costs.

Personnel
Thirdly another restriction or constraint may come from the personnel of the advert production. These are the cast members who will participate in 'swatching' the MUA lipsticks for us. There are 5 girls who will cast in the advert including me and my partner who is working with me on the advert. For each girl we will need to get permission from them to participate in our advert, this will be done through a release form. One restriction we may face is the scheduling as each cast member will have a different timetable of lessons, meaning we'll need to work around their timetables.
Another thing we need to ensure from our cast members is their appearance and how we want them to dress. We may need to ask them to wear specific clothing for the purpose of the advert, this may be bright bubbly colours in order to reflect the colours of the various lipsticks we're advertising, it will also make the moo
d of the advert more uplifting and fruity. Another thing we'll need to make sure of is having each girl wearing natural looking make-up so that the lips stand out the most, this will draw the audiences attention to them more and is almost another technique in itself in advertising the lipsticks effectively. This will be easy to achieve as all of the girls have the basic make-up products e.i eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeliner etc.  Lastly, as the song behind the advert will be upbeat and quite fast in tempo we may need the girls to perhaps dance around and/ or lipsync the song which may be a restriction as some may be shy or not want to perform in from of the camera by dancing. If this is the case we'll need to then think of ways of working around that, it may be an idea to leave each girl in the room alone, to her own comfort so that she free to dance / move around without feeling as though we're watching her.

Resources
Resources may also be a constraint in making the advert. This is because there may be limited resources such as lights, tripods, cameras and locations. Firstly in terms of the advert itself the resources mainly needed will be ; cameras + tripods, lights and perhaps an outside location. For the cameras , we have access to them in school and each camera has its SD card , therefore, this will not be a major restriction. The tripods may be a slight restriction as there may not be enough to use for each camera, this means that we'll have to work with two cameras being on a tripod and the third camera being handheld to get camera movement. In addition, another piece of equipment we may need is the lights, which is possibly as important as the cameras, because they are what the professional beauty adverts use in order to bring out the models faces. As these are also available in school we will not have to invest in getting any lights, these will be used to light the set and make sure it is brightly lit and no shadows are showing in the background.
